Labor Day

On Monday we visited the Scioto Audubon park, just south of downtown. What a great, new (to us) feature about the city!

A little pep talk about the slide, she wasn't too sure...

...but going down it with Papa made it a-okay!

All tuckered out, bag of Cheerios in hand. L-O-V-E.
In the afternoon we took a stroll around Mirror Lake, the OSU oval and The Wexner Center. Baby Girl did LOTS of walking while we were there, we're so proud of her! She's so close to walking on her own, she's just got to build up the confidence.

The day ended with starting the X-Men trilogy (my choice, what?!) and having ice cream, a Blinn family tradition that my husband is eager to carry on. A simple Labor Day to remember, ahhhh.

Oh yes, and there's these benches...

Back in the day before we were The Blinns and we were just Kelli and Blinn ;) we spent many an hour in the oval at Ohio State. We took long walks together and talked about everything imaginable. On one particular late night, our walk-n-talk led us to one of these benches. (Neither of us can remember which bench it was exactly, but it doesn't matter.) That night we sat beneath the light of a city lamp and fell deeper in love with each other as we peeled away more layers of brokenness, fear, and vulnerability. I remember staring deep into Matty's eyes as he shared deep things about his life and while I don't remember all the details, I know it was a significant moment in our relationship.

I'm thankful to live in the town where I met, fell in love with, and married my best friend. Its important for me to be able to show our girl certain things in this city that led to the story of how she got here. She doesn't care about my nostalgic nature now, but one day she will. I hope.
