Oh, Jonathan. I love you, Buddy. Here's what you've been doing/learning/liking/disliking since my last post.
- On March 31st you and Sister were diagnosed with walking pneumonia and you were lucky enough to have an ear infection at the same time. You poor kids. You've handled it pretty well and aside from a little more fussiness and wanting to be held, the occasional low grade fever here and there, you've been your normal self. You're taking it better than I would, believe me.
- On April 6th when you were asked "What does a doggy say?" you learned to go "woof, woof" if someone does it first and since then, you "woof" on your own from time to time!
- Midway through Zachari's dinnertime prayers, you say "Ahhhh dun!" as if to say "Enough of this praying stuff, I'm already eating - dig in!" Its pretty adorable. Sometimes it bothers Zachari because she's been interrupted, but for the most part, we all get a kick out of it!
- You. Love. TRUUUUUUCKS! You squawk about them from your car seat, from the sidewalk, from a mile away when you spot one. Its fun to see you light up so much over an interest that's all your own and totally separate from Sister's.
- On April 11th I noticed you fold your hands briefly to pray. Precious.
- On the same day we took you to the fire station at the end of our block so you could explore on your own. We went last summer, but you were teeny and couldn't have cared less about the trucks. Now, since you show such interest in all things moving objects, we though you'd be thrilllled by the field trip. No go. You were overwhelmed and I think the bright colors and hugeness of everything intimidated you a bit. We'll try again. Just you wait.
- You're not crazy about apple juice or goat's milk, but water and breast milk are still a-okay with you. And really? I'm so cool with that set up!
- When you nurse you seem to just suckle lightly, but I'm not real sure how much milk is actually being transferred. Whatev.
- I had (another) sinus surgery on the 18th. We went 40 hours without nursing while I recovered and pumped the crazy drugs out of my system. Way to go, Love. You're still at it even after that abrupt halt we had to work through!
- April 19th was your first time down a slide all by yourself and J, you were up the ladder and down the slide before I could even catch my breath! You are a daredevil and its been so fun to watch you explore fearlessly!
- About 657 times a day you pull your big sister's beautiful hair. She screams, you crack up, I usually roll my eyes or join in your chuckling and/or leave the room. You are going to be the sterotypical menace of a little brother, aren't you? Oh, Zachari, good luck...
- Shoes. You put others' on your tiny feet all the time and if you get to wear your own shoes? Well its your lucky day!
- If prompted, you'll say your own version of thank you. Love it.
- Since the beginning of the month you've learned to communicate "woof woof" when you want to point out a doggy. You're obsessed with our neighbor Tony's dogs next door. I'm glad you like them, I think they're yip-yappers, m'self.
- You know where your tummy, toes, head and mouth are. When we ask you were your mouth is, you move your tongue all over the place rapidly - hilarious!
- When I make the moooooo sound for a cow, you crack up. Because you find it so funny, you haven't learned what animal actually says moo, nor do you say it yourself. One day it might not be so humorous and you'll learned about the blessed cows. I think.
- Songs you love: "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors, "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers and "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. There are few things that bring me more joy than watching you and Zachari dance and sing songs together. Its incredible.

When Papa takes you with him to Oakland Nursery, you get the full experience... in the dirt! |
|
April 7th: Visited Papa for lunch and you got to be on the last couple of seconds of the noon show! Sister wanted nothing to do with local stardom. |
|
Z got a package of hand-me-downs from Katelyn, but you took to one particular item right away. You and your love of footwear, I tell ya! |

Easter Sunday at Grandma and Grandpa Blinn's. This was actually the best pic of everyone - Lydia was screaming in ALL of them. |
You're such a sweet boy and you continue to change my heart about motherhood - especially being a mother to a boy. I thought I only wanted daughters, but Son, you are more than I could've ever hoped for and then some. I love you, sweetie. What will be in store for us in the next month of your cute little life?
