Yesterday was ZJ's first 4th of July and thanks to her friend Emaline, she had a cutie red, white and blue dress to wear for the day. Because she's my daughter, I think she looked pretty adorable in it, but if I had seen the same dress on most any other baby on July 4th I probably would've rolled my eyes. I'm not patriotic. At all. Blinn's not either, but we thought it would be cute (and sort of funny) to dress ZJ up like this for the Blinn grandparents who are oh-so-patriotic. So now, without further ado, pics from our time up at East Harbor State Park along Lake Erie.
She was stoked to be at the lake for the first time, as you can see! What you can't see though, is how hot it was - like upper 90's with 8,000% humidity. Nor can you see all the gnats and mosquitoes, the make-you-feel-like-you're-in-Mikiduri outhouse off in the distance, the fact that although we were right on the water, there was no breeze to speak of or the fact that I, the one taking these photos, was dripping with sweat. Oh, it wasn't a glisten, it was n.a.s.t.y. If you haven't gathered it by now, I was in a foul mood for much of our time outdoors yesterday, not my proudest moment. But this is my blog, my thoughts and feelings so I'm gonna tell it my way! Enough yammering on though, here's more shots from the day.
In the words of Jack Johnson: "Its as simple as something that nobody knows that her eyes are as big as her bubbly toes..." And man do I love her big eyes and kissable toes.
Around the time the sun was setting I took Zachari on a walk to put her to sleep and it worked. I couldn't resist taking this photo of her glowing in the evening light.
Here's what Baby Girl missed while she snoozed. It was quite beautiful in those last daylight hours.
