I'm stealing a month-in-review idea from Rachel McCoy. I think it'll be good to help me remember to slow down just a little and reflect on what's happened week by week. What I'd like to do is have each month's title be a song title or lyric. I'm coming up short for this month though...
- I kicked off the month by having the worst, most scary asthma attack of my life. Granted, I've only had breathing issues since the spring, but whatever happened to me on October 1st was nas.ty. Our cute little family was walking over to campus for the BGSU homecoming parade, but my bod couldn't take it. Turns out that I actually had bronchitis which was really complicated by asthma. I hope to go back to the doctor sometime this month for a follow-up and see if we can't do something about this problem. I'm over it. (Way to kick the list off with a downer, huh?)
- On the 2nd I joined some Brookside ladies for a lovely lil brunch in someone's home. It was cold, gray and wet outside, but the warmth and delicious food inside masked all that. It was fun to have a few hours away from Blinn and Z to connect with girls I've never met and/or girls I want to know better.
- To wrap up the first weekend of October some of my mom's family came up for a visit which was great! Carla and Kim had been here before, but this time they brought Maryke with them. It was her first time meeting Zachari and she fell in love. Kristi, Josh and Caleb came down from Michigan, it was like a mini reunion. Blinn and I really enjoy Mom's side of the family, they're so real, and generally pleasant to be around.

- What would the month of October be without Blinntoberfest?! This was the fourth annual celebration of all things fall at our home and it was a hit! For the first time we had more BG residents than Columbus friends present because we're finally making some friends in this town! We had a full house with nine overnight guests and we all enjoyed breakfast together the next day and a laid back morning/afternoon/early evening just hanging out. It feels good, right, to have a house full. I'm thankful I have the space and desire to host such lovely people year after year.
- Our Life Group (what small groups are called at Brookside) met a couple of times and we chowed down on good food and some wine.
- I helped throw an intimate baby shower Sara Martin who's expecting a baby girl any day. Simple soups, bread, desserts and tea with little gifts for a little lady. Throwing showers is so fun!
- ZJ went to her first wedding out of the womb. On October 23rd Heather Hofacre became a Mohrman (no pun intended) when she said "I do." to Jeff. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony with the sun setting, a gentle breeze blowing and one of the
most glamorous, gorgeous brides ya ever did see. The weekend was a whirlwind of activity and I'm glad its over, but our time away was good.
- The day after the wedding Blinn, Zachari spent some time with the McNeals in Mohican State Park. The weather was unseasonably warm, the trees were beautiful and the air just felt right. Fall is incredible. I feel bad for people in the world who don't get to experience it like we do.
