Yesterday the love of my life turned a whopping 34 years old. I love him... and so, I made him my very first homemade peach pie. It was a wild success with the birthday boy (though I didn't think it was so great). I was quite proud of the homemade crust and bubbly peach goodness that oozed out the edges. The picture doesn't do the dish justice.
Blinn had to work a really long, tedious day on his birthday so we didn't get to do much of anything special. When he came home from lunch I made him a big brunch which satisfied him and put a smile on his face. His dinner request was homemade pesto sauce with chicken and spaghetti so I had to oblige! To celebrate his life and the end of my birthday weekend celebration, we enjoyed our last bottle of honeymoon wine. 'Twas bittersweet for me to pop it open and know that there weren't any more in the basement waiting to be used for special occasions. The wine, a smooth and oaky Pinot Noir with a slight bite at the end, was delectable. I'm glad we saved that particular bottle for last.
For the first time in Idon'tknowhowlong, I purchased a gift for Blinn instead of just making something. He's been enjoying bourbon with friends since we've lived here and I thought he ought to have a bottle of the good stuff of his own. He was really surprised and really happy with my choice! In addition to that, I did make him something - I couldn't totally sell out and go all consumer! I was inspired by this idea in the spring and planned to do my own version as an anniversary gift. I started it in late March and later that week I ended up in the ICU. Needless to say, I didn't get very far then and soon after I was home and feeling better, the moving craziness began. The gift went on the back burner and filled in wonderfully as a birthday goodie.
Oh, how thankful I am for Theresa Jane Thomas Blinn and the good thing she did 34 years ago giving birth to her firstborn. My life hasn't been the same since he became a part of it and I like it that way. He is as close to perfection as humanly possible and I'm left in awe of him and the Creator time and time again.
Happy birthday, sweet boy!
I can finally post comments on here, yay! i'm going to start calling you Martha if you continue to make gorgeous pies and cutesy crafts like that.
