Birthday-eve date with Dad

Tonight I had my annual birthday dinner date with Dad - the 23rd one of these dates, to be exact. We dined at M at Miranova, what is probably one of the swankiest, most pricey spots in Columbus. I still can't believe Dad said yes to my number one pick. I guess I really do get to live it up in my 30s! We had a great time dining both indoors and out. The weather here has been much cooler than usual for August so once the sun went down, it was chilly. We were total dorks taking photos of everything. Little did Dad know that I had a blog post in mind... he's just a nerd with an iPhone that photographs random things. I bet we were a sight to be seen! Don't worry, we did it all discreetly as to not give away that we were rookies at such a posh place.

Delicious!
The tomato salad with Sonoma goat cheese mousse,
fresh avocado, shallots, basil & a champagne vinaigrette.
The following pictures are from Dad's iPhone and the quality isn't the best because we moved indoors. It'll be enough to jog my memory when I'm old and gray and want to think back to this special night.

Dad's entree
Double-bone pork chop, brussels sprouts, smoked bacon,
& pistachios covered in a cider pan sauce.
Not pictured: lobster mashed potatoes.
My entree - In.credible!
Sea scallops atop asparagus, roasted tomato & parmigiano-reggiano risotto
drizzled with lemon emulsion.

Complimentary birthday dessert of my choice:
Personal-sized peach pie with vanilla bourbon ice cream.
Mouth-watering goodness.

I'm thankful for my dad and the tradition he started with my sister and I when we turned 8. I wonder what meaningful traditions Blinn and I will come up with for Baby Girl that she'll treasure her whole life...
