Jonathan: 7 months

You are a delight!

Looking at these photos brings such a big smile to my face. That's kind of how you roll, isn't it? The last month of your life has been such a fun ride and its hard to believe that you're now closer to one year old than infancy. So much changes from the moment you shoot out of the womb to the six month mark, Lovey. Its been fun documenting all of your precious moments. Here's how you've changed since last month...

Your first 4th of July! We watched from a parking lot near Whetstone Park.
July 5th:Your first visit to the Columbus Museum of Art!
You were amazed by the large, interactive mobile.
July 5th: A family afternoon at OSU's RPAC and you liked the pool!

On July 13th you got your first taste of solid food: avocado... and it was a success! We eased you into solids for about ten days and then introduced carrot (7/22) which you weren't as much of a fan of, then sweet potato (7/29) which went over a little better. Next, we'll start some fruits like bananas, applesauce and who knows what else!

  • You're really starting to find your voice and its such a precious thing to experience with you. You have a deep growl/groan sometimes and you've started making G and D noises. Your babble is super cute and Sister gets so excited whenever you try chatting with her. Good luck getting a word in with that girl, honey. She never stops!
  • When you're in the exersaucer, you "run" and get all worked up with nowhere to go - ha!
  • Shaking your head back and forth is a new trick you keep up your sleeve and I love when you do it! You do it fast and almost get a little dizzied by it or sometimes you move in slow motion... and still get dizzy from it!
  • On July 23rd you had your first EIGHT HOURS OF SLEEP IN A ROW! Mama was pretty happy about that... though I didn't actually sleep that many hours in a row because I was expecting you to wake up. Take note, Little One: I could really get used to eight consecutive hours of sleep a night. Wink, wink.
  • I think you're starting to understand the concept of peek-a-boo. You lunge to see where the person/thing went and have a little smirk on your face when you solve the mystery. Cute.
  • If you're in the right position, you often try the pulling-up motion. No thank you, sir. I'm not ready for this next milestone!
  • You're slowly starting to lean towards the person you want to be with. Most of the time, its me, but sometimes when Papa comes home you thrust yourself towards him which brightens his day. Babies reaching for the person they want is one of my favorite things so I welcome this next phase.
  • Baths now take place in the big tub, sometimes with Sister. You are happy as a clam to be in the water and its fun to watch you and Z splash around together.
  • When you nurse, you are so active, my love. You often start to flip over, nip still in your mouth and sucking away. I'm all for multitasking, but while you're having Mama's milk is not the time for that!
  • One of your favorite "toys" is the lid to my water bottle. I don't know why any of us spend money on the high tech stuff. Babes are so content with the most random of objects.
  • Your crawling looks like this: butt up in the air on your tippy toes, ankles crossed sometimes, lunging forward. Lllllove it!
  • On July 26th you figured out how to go from crawling to the sitting up position. You have such a sense of pride and accomplishment when you do it too.
Sweetie, you are such a perfect addition to our family. Its hard to imagine life without you as a part of it, but you've only been here less than a year. The months are flying by and your development and growth astound me. You are a gift. You are a joy. You are my sweet, sweet baby boy and I love you.
