Yesterday was a good day.

Delicious coffee at home with the fam
Warm and sunny outside, close to 50˚
A stress-free quick trip to Target with Z
Playing and conversation with Aaron, Kristina and the kids
A quick trip to Kroger without Z
Quiet time for Z, a short nap for me
A visit from Amy and Micah
Delectable dinner (if I do say so m'self) of pot roast, mashed potatoes and steamed green beans and for dessert, equally tasty peanut butter cookies
A walk, holding hands with The Boy
Ash Wednesday service
Singing prayers and meaning it. Finally.
Receiving ashes on my forehead.
From ashes you came, to ashes you shall return... Remember friends, it is God's kindness - his kindness - that leads us to repentance.
Connecting with Sam
Simple conversation and time together with Blinn in our room
Giggling with Blinn, playing with him, the comfort of him
Falling asleep next to the man I love and not waking until 5:30 a.m.

A very good day.

Reflections on Scripture today
Psalm 4:7 (NIV) - "You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound." A contrast of inward joy vs. happiness.
Inward joy is constant when rooted in God, happiness is unpredictable.
Inward joy trumps discouragement, happiness covers it up.
Inward joy is lasting, happiness is temporary.

Psalm 5:3 (NIV) - "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation."
Waiting expectantly with faith that something good will come just as an expectant mother waits excitedly for the arrival of her child. We believe. often times without any reservations, that a babe-gift will be born. Why not have the same belief in the god who desires to answer our cries?
